So this week I read Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and my first, and only, criticism is the cover. Why is the author's name bigger than the title of the book? This is not all about you, it's all about your book. I know that this is the original cover and that another on has come out since then, but still, when I first looked at this book, I could not tell what the title was! other than that one pet peeve, I loved this book. I had judged it pretty hard in grade school, and only revisited it now after some encouragement from a dear friend, and it's not a decision I will ever regret. This was not, as I thought in my grade school years, a book about a stupid girl who just wants to be pretty like all her friends and is willing to get surgery to do so (well it kinda is but it is so much more than that) This is a story about a strong girl who is willing to do anything if it means the safety of her friends, even if she doesn't realize it at first. Tally is a great role model, and I wish I had read this book when I was younger if nothing more than to show my smaller self what it means to be truly beautiful. I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the next book, and will surely update you as soon as I can.
Stay beautiful, and keep reading!
